So people do all kinds of things on the tube, Christmas eve, I seen a woman wrapping a present. She was actually hilarious. From the moment she sat down and began her attempts at wrapping, i could not help but laugh, she noticed and laughed quite a bit herself.
at one point the woman sat at her left, goes "well i've seen woman putting make-up on before, but never wrapping gifts"
and the gift wrapper goes, "i never thought it would be me"
she actually had this really beautiful wrapping paper (gorgeous colors, and embossed with butterflies and lilies), which i had wanted to ask from where it came, but did not want to delay the wrapping in any ways.
The highlight of her task, and come just minutes before she finished (the end result was hmmm, something my 3 month old nephew could probably get away with) she had managed to get the paper around the gift (up until that point had been under wraps LOL, uh i couldn't see what it actually was), but had failed to secure the paper to the object in hand properly. Having thought she secured the paper around the gift she then turned it, un wrapped ends going up and down, when oops! the copy of the Karma Sutra that was hidden inside slid out onto the floor!
Luckily, she managed to slide it back in sideways and finish the wrapping, having managed to bring a little christmas cheer and laughter to her fellow underground travellers.
But, LOL, it was def. the funniest moment of my underground journeys thus far

my stupid blog
ugh, wrote a long post on my phone teh other nite, but for some reason it wouldn't post!!! so frustrating after typing away on that tiny lil ol' keyboard thingy.
i still feel like i wanna get regular style phone, i cant seem to find an app for aim, which was the whole intent of getting that phone in the first place (well tlhat and the skype, which has been amazing for talking to my family over the holidays).
anyways, i will figure it out, and then i can update my blog via mobile phone, and that will be awesome.
OHH, yea i was trying to post a funny photo! will transfer photo from phone to email to blog now. woot!

nearly christmas.....!
it snowed! i love it. its inconvenient, but i feel like what is the point of it being cold if its not gonna snow? why waste cold on, like, nothing? everything looks absolutely amazing covered in snow. dalston market looks brilliant covered in snow.
believe me, i am NOT a winter person. i hate the cold, my hands hate it, my feet hate it, i just cant get away from it come winter, it gets stuck in my bones every time i go for a run, it attacks my throat and lungs just thinking about it, but yea, snow, too nice.
i have to say, that so far, this has been possibly my first time accepting winter, and maybe slightly enjoying it. im not even doing anything in it, just walking and running here and there. but i dont feel miserable. im cold, but im not freezing. i dont think im upset about it like i usually am. i dunno. i might be.... ok with it.....
ahh man, im like happy and excited, and i have actually no real reason to be. probably legitimate reasons not to be, but i cant help it.
im starting to feel like myself again....

shoes
I now change my shoes at least 3 times a day. 3 different pairs i mean. one of them looks like paint exploded on my foot (one shoe of one of the pairs). On my way back from work this evening (yes, yes, i have a job. working girl. independent, modern woman... HA), sitting on the central line, my shoe got noticed. i was just sat down holding my bag on my lap, looking at my hands, when i noticed the guy across from me's head turn immediately towards my shoe. He was not subtle about it at all, and gave me the best look, not once, but multiple times during our journey that covered only 4 stops. the first time he gave me the look, i just shrugged. The fact that he AGAIN gave me his bewildered, disapproving look made me smile. The THIRD TIME! I actually laughed, and had to endure his stares the rest of the trip. Which actually wasn't that bad bc they were given in a funny manner, and he was the one drawing attention to himself... and not terrible to look at either.
what a shoe...
what a shoe...

Hez zicur home.....
or according to my phone "Hey whats good"......
Something very weird has happened to my mobile phone, this is not your average "not getting the texts people send me kinda thing (although that is another problem it has)"
For some reason the predictive text has gone insane. its actually going to make me crazy i think, but i cant afford a new phone so im guessing sometime very soon people will start receiving weird messages from me when i get too frustrated to type in every single word.
Here are some examples of my new artsy predictive texting:
ross dopin un cee that = sorry forgot to add that
hez mon tigr ip my ul number = hey mom this is my uk number
roundr grec red you later = sounds great see you later
I mean i really love predictive text word mistakes. im into that book shiv an all that, i have actually typed text message errors in instant messaging. i get it that bad. but honestly this is too much!

canal walk
i went to london and got a job.
This morning i decided to walk along the canal to the angel tube station, as i would have a 4.5 hour bus journey ahead of me with no physical movement at all (i moved my thumbs quite a bit actually, as i ended up playing pokemon on game boy for nearly 3 hours straight before falling asleep for the remainder of the amazing bus extravaganza). I woke up earlier than i expected to and decided to just get out and get some fresh air, enjoying the fact that it was clear out, no rain and a lil bit of sun. As i began my walk along the canal, boats resting sleepily along the shores, bicycles whizzing by, I noticed another walker, obviously a girl as she was clearly wearing a skirt and a pink backpack.
(pink backpacks are somewhat funny to me.... i had a friend once, rather two friends, im not friends with either of them any more, for very different reasons. ANYWAY one was a boy, we used to go to the library together to study, i mostly just fell asleep though.... one evening, the other friend, a girl, seen me dozing away, dreaming about collegiate things, and came by and said hello. yea, hi, this and that, etc. then she left. a lil while later the friend that was a boy starts talking about her, asking me questions and stuff.
and im like, "WHO? what friend?! what you talking about?!"
and he is like "Pink Backpack"
"Who the hell is Pink Backpack?!"
"that girl that talked to you in the library"
"she had a Pink Backpack?"
"yea"
"she has a real name too if you wanna know it"
"nah, thats ok"
and she was referred to as Pink Backpack for the remainder of our friendship, even when her name was found out, and after serious, awkward situations involving said persons came up....)
Ah yes! Back to my canal adventure....
ok. So I took particular notice of this pink backpacked lass, and noticed that we remained the same distance apart the entirety of the walk. Until... suddenly a second pink backpacked girl appeared along side her! I got lost in my thoughts, surroundings and trying to avoid being knocked down by the bicycles passing by, when i realized i was a few paces away from the backpacked school girls (it was apparent at this distance that they were school girls, uniformed and obviously on their way to get their daily learnings).
They were staring VERY intently into the murky canal, which was littered with various floating items, then suddenly turned away. as i approached i noticed that pink backpack number one was crying, and pink backpack number two was hugging her.
"There's nothing we can do it's already dead."
"Who would drown a cat in the canal!"
I got a glimpse of the floating orange tabby and could not stand to look for more than the moment that it took me to realize what they were talking about.
"But we can't just leave it there, we can't just leave it floating there!"
"Well we aren't going to fish it out"
"Then we should call someone to come take it out. its awful. It probably got hit by one of the stupid bicycles and fell in"
Too true. honestly, stupid bicycles. I wanted to vom, but couldn't actually open my mouth.

the good, the bad, and the ugly
So the past 24 hours have been a bit of a mix for me. Firstly, today I found out some good news! yay!!! So, since I am resitting my dissertation under "special circumstances" I dont have to pay any fee for the module, and JUST received an email from my tutor saying that I dont have to pay a registration fee either, as I am resitting as a departmental extension.
This is not just good news, it is GREAT!!!! news lol. as I was stressing about where on earth that money was going to come from.... the likely answer being magic, which I have no experience with at this point (despite the fact that i believe most scientific things are actually just products of magic, but then again I haven't actually mastered science yet....). This paired with the fact that I dont have to hand in my revised dissertation until August is a huge weight off of my shoulders.
Secondly, I applied for a job as a temporary exhibition assistant two days ago. The application had to be in by Nov. 23. I was going back and forth over whether I would apply as its only a 6 month position, but decided at about LOL 11:20pm at night to apply. I finished the application at about.....11:47pm, saved it to my USB stick thing (coincidentally named Magic Stick), threw on my hoodie and a scarf, didnt bother to change out of my slippers, and bolted out the door, no joke, at 11:50pm. I raced up the road to Uni, when I say up the road, I am meaning this in the upmost of literal senses, as Woodsley Road has been a pain in my glutes for the past year... I made it to the computer lab, prayed that the computer would load up quickly (those old PC's are VERY unpredictable), and opened up a web browser. I did it. I got that email sent at EXACTLY 11:59pm, technically still the 23rd....
but yesterday I got an email saying since I didn't get the application in by 5:30pm It wasn't going to be considered. Wha! well then. I thought I should've done it earlier.
BUT this morning I received another email from this loopy institution called the Royal Academy of Art that Oops! it was their bad, they didn't say what time the apps had to be in, so forget about that email they sent yesterday, they are going to be ever so gracious and look at my application. Well, when people say stupid things to me like, "what are you running from?" or "you can take a day off" or gasp at the fact that I run... "EVERYDAY!" instances like this make the training have a real life practical value. Forget the health benefits (those are negated by the amount of sugar my body has flowing through it at any given moment), it is the ability to run up Woodsley Road at 11:50pm and have enough strength to sprint to the computer lab afterwards that makes it THAT much more worth it....
Finally....
Ok nevermind i don't feel like writing about anything bad at the moment. but i will mention the fact that last nite we came to the conclusion that my new haircut resembles Gordon Ramsay's. LOL so yea, ugly. He is not a looker, and being referred to as "Gordon", or him being referred to as Sarah during the F word last nite doesn't exactly boost ones confidence. but it is pretty funny...

banana
I decided recently i would attempt to eat more fruit, mostly bc i hate it and avoid it. I got myself a hand of bananas (they are that creepy that you refer to a bunch of them as a hand) but until yesterday had only managed to eat one of them. Deciding to bite the bullet i took one with my on my walk to uni this morning. I managed to get about half way through it (that only took like 10 min) before i felt like i was gonna be sick. In order to get the remainder of the nutritional value, I convinced myself to eat the rest of it. At first I thought if i eat it as fast as i can i wont notice.... wrong. i nearly puked on the footpath. I then decided to take miniscule lil pecks from it, unfortunately it still tasted awful and only prolonged this most putrid of experiences. Finally i decided that upon arriving on campus i would immediately go to the student union, fill my water bottle and wash the banana taste and feeling out of my mouth. and then eat some sweets. :)

huh...
xc
i ran my first xc race of the season yesterday. it was wet cold rainy and hilly. i felt unfit and my legs killed on the outrageous (for me at least) uphills. i absolutely loved it.
the race was in wakefield, on a typical autumn afternoon. i managed 7th in the womens race, although ended up dozing for a bit in the second lap, letting 6th get ahead and extend her lead on me as we trampled our way towards the finish. I'm now quite excited about the rest of the season, with my next xc race in guisley on dec. 6th.
my run this morning was nothing short of unusual. me and sarah (another one, i dont actually have a split personality) set off on the canal to get in the first part of our run before we would join others to watch the abbey dash. we slowly plodded to start as we were both a lil worn from the previous days race. on our way back towards the kirkstall abbey there were a gigantic crow in the middle of the canal path that took no heed to our pounding feet approaching, and the impending doom that he would encounter if he didn't get out of the way. sarah gave him a brief "shoo-ing" and he reluctantly hopped a few feet over as we passed. I'm terrified of most birds, especially the big mean sort, and sarah mumbled something like "i hate crows" as we continued on. much to our surprise the crow did hear her remark and flew at us down the path, attacking my head! i was absolutely terrified as he seemed to actually have it out for us.
our horrors left behind we then proceed on to the abbey.
as we ran through the crowds of onlookers on our way to the turn around point sarah was nearly eaten alive by a jack russell. not the most relaxing of sunday runs in any way!
we met greg and fay and emily, cheered on a bunch of the runners, then headed out for the remainder of our run with greg and emily, encountering some more canine path trekkers of a more friendly variety. our vicious animal worries no longer a reality, the run concluded and i returned to my place of residence.

day trip to london
At the moment my life is kind of a mess. trying to find a job and my dissertation and personal things all at once isnt that fun.
spent a bunch of money (not tons, but i dont have much to through around) to take a day trip to london for a job interview, and then spend the evening with ingrid.
woke up before 6 to run to the bus station to get a 6:40am bus. arrived in London around 11, then had a cup of miso soup as i walked from victoria bus station to waterloo. I had so much time, i stopped and had a hot chocolate while i filled in the remainder of the job app i had to bring with my to soho gym.
afterwards, having changed into "normal" clothes ( not the running gear i had on from the morning that probably smelled amazing...) I walked over by westminster abbey and big ben, which were really lovely, by the london eye, then parked myself on a bench by the south bank and watched swarms of tourists and runners and the like passing by. after taking in some sweet rays i walked around a bit before heading over to soho gym for the group interview thingy.
it was actually a pretty fun kind of interview to have, there were two groups, about 20 people in total i'd say, all applying for 4 open positions. my group had about 12 or 14 people i'd say, most of whom were eager to chat. i'd say it is def. one of the more interesting ways to have an interview, you get to meet some new people, hear other peoples answers, and get an overall idea about who your up against for the job lol.
interview concluded i went over to bermondsey to meet wtih ingrid. we walked a couple minutes over to her really cute flat that she shares with 3 norwegian students. a house full of lovely people! i went for a run than we all left together to head to the lexington for a nordic music gig. stopping before hand to pick up some delicious vegan take-away!
The lexington was pretty nice inside, good decor, atmosphere and a nice place for music upstairs. i only was able to see 3 out of the 4 acts, but overall they were pretty good, very very different, and fun to watch. got mistaken for being norwegian, as everyone else i was with was norwegian. i learned 3 norwegian words which i plan on using in the near future :)
Met a few other nice people, and then headed off back towards victoria bus station for my 6 hour bus journey home.....
somewhere before sheffield there was problems with the bus and we had to switch busses. only ended up being about 10 min late back to leeds. i then walked back to teh house, and immedietly fell asleep, didnt wake up 2 hours later like i was supposed to, so i missed the 2nd part of my interview iwth foster marketing. i dont know if im dissapointed or not bc i really want to get the hell out of here........
im racing tomo in wakefield. first xc race of the season! woo!

So last nite before cross country practice i thought i would lay down for a few min. i was feeling pretty tired but was fortunatley/unfortunately? woken up by a phone call from barclays saying they wanted to do a telephone interview with me the following day (today!). a hung up and like 30 sec later i got a call from a marketing firm in town (Fosters) saying they would like to interview me tomorrow afternoon ( 2 hours from now).
so i went to cross country practice, got very muddy doing a steep hill workout. good times. went back to the house an showered an ate (part of my new routine of attempting to take better care of myself...) then went to uni to check my email. to find.... a message from soho gym waterloo telling me im invited to come to this recruiting event on thurs. I replied saying i was going. and i guess

b's
I just finished my first telephone interview for the additional information i need in order to resubmit my dissertation. I talked to a woman from Bees for development, an organization that helps people in underdeveloped nations start beekeeping as a means of income.
I always hate ringing people about anything that is even slightly important bc i tend to sound like a spaced out 12 year old on the phone. I'm going to transcribe the interview this evening, and no doubt, cringe the entire time.
This afternoon I am going to try and speak to someone about my prevailing visa issues. This dissertation business has, in fact, complicated my life more than i thought it would.
along with being afraid of squirrels, geese, and farm animals, i am also scared of looking at my bank balance.
I'm gonna have to psych myself up for that one really soon.....

one thing
So i did some gardening when i was home. took a good few hours to clear this out, and i actually gave myself tendonitis, and multiple wounds in the process (some of the weeds were nearly as tall as me...), but it had such satisfying results.....
snacks
I cant help it, i just eat snacks all day long. i am blowing my small amount of money on food. its totally nuts. today i ate 10 mini spring roles, a 100g bag of nacho chips, two packs of chocolate sesame snaps, a cup of tea ( i ate that too)
i just heard some dumbass girl say puerto rico was in south america. OMFG this girl is so dumb, now she is saying that north and south america are joined so why arent they the same continent. honestly! people over here....
i am so tired of writing cover letters right now. its just like ok omg i cant even think, this girl is actually retarded. do they speak spanish in the dominican republic??? wow. and she is over here talking about how americans are stupid. hmmmm.
anyways, the job stuff is head wrecking.
oh! well i had a really good run yesterday. 1hour 40 min. felt good, beautiful weather, great company. muddy, but super fun. group run tonite with the uni, and xc sesh tomo. woot!

down and out in leeds

Returned to leeds on sunday night after being gone over two months. honestly everything pretty much sucks. this may be like the lowest point in my life, ha , no joke. i have no job, no money, nowhere to live, and now no boyfriend. not to mention, no masters degree, and no desire to do anything.
uhhhhhhh my trip home was great though, couldnt ask for a better holiday.
so i am going to try and "get better", as my mom keeps referring to it lol. i mean start taking care of myself, like the 26 year old person that i am. fuuuuuuuuuuck.
in order to do so i have bought the following items:
dental floss,
diet soup,
soap,
diet water.
im gonna like try to make some sort of schedule. i think like wake up, do stuff, run, shower do more stuff .
im gonna do more blogging. i used to love to make blogs, we will see how this goes...
