tripping over my own feet

a few years back now, i wanted some winter boots. they were expensive (well, expensive for me), and my mom, she gave me some money towards the boots. my feet were warm, dry and cozy all winter thanks to her.  she got lucky and was able to purchase the same pair, in black,  on sale at the end of the winter.  they were lovely boots too. so lovely in fact i "borrowed" them and lugged em over to the other side of the ocean, where i was living on a little island called ireland.  they were absolutely the best, and i thought about my mom, and was thankful for her every time i wore them. no joke.
when i went home for a visit this past autumn, upon moving out of that lil island, i decided it was time to return the boots to their rightful owner.  BUT i happened to notice that my mom had gotten ANOTHER pair of boots, equally practical and well, that much cooler (yea, their timberlands, and don't feel bad she has em in black too).  being the kind of mom she is, she "traded" me the boots (meaning she got her own boots back, and i got some of more of her boots).  woooo! i was stoked!
I've been wearing these boots the past couple days, despite the fact that they are a little bit too big.  They look great with leggings and ankle warmers, duh.  the only downside is that they are, in fact, too big.  SO BIG, i tripped over them when i was running to cross the street before the light changed (i wasn't even in a hurry really).  i ended up falling over, managing to get back up, and cross before the light changed. when i did get to the other side of the road, i actually couldn't stop laughing to myself. it felt ridiculous and i can only imagine how it looked. clown shoes.
